What to Bring on your Locum Placement?

Are you a doctor about to head off on your first locum adventure and wondering what to bring? If so, you’re in luck.

We’ve spoken to our regular doctors and used their input to create a locum packing guide for you.

Before you begin consider:

  • Where you are travelling and the time of year? What you will bring to Broome in January is vastly different from what you’ll need for a winter locum in Tassie. Make sure to check the weather forecast and pack appropriately.

  • What you want to do on your time off? You might want to add your hiking boots or larger items like your bike or golf clubs to the list.

Remember to double-check your luggage allowance and to set aside certain items for hand luggage, like a portable charger that can’t be checked in. Even if you are travelling by car, having some items in a backpack can be super handy if you have a long drive ahead.

Another handy tip is to screenshot or print your arrival details so that you can quickly access this information when you arrive without worrying about a dodgy signal or a low battery.

If you use the guide and think we have forgotten anything, please let us know; we would love your feedback.
