How the Commonwealth Financial Support Calculator works

The Commonwealth Financial Support Calculator is a free tool designed to help rural doctors navigate the financial assistance options the Commonwealth offers*.

You simply pop your details in about your MMM area, work style, and any advanced skills and it will give you a personalised estimate of the amount you may be eligible for.

*Unfortunately, state incentives are not included yet due to the limited resources of the RDAA.

Watch their demonstration video below, which covers a few examples and explains some of the incentives included. It's free, but you must still log in to the RDAA to access it.

The benefits of pursuing funding opportunities in rural health

Working in rural and remote areas can be incredibly rewarding. However, it also comes with unique challenges, such as isolation, limited resources, and complex patients with a higher disease burden. Financial support through these grants, scholarships, and funding can alleviate some of these challenges, providing the necessary resources to enhance your skills, undertake important research, and deliver quality healthcare.

Who can benefit?

  • Medical Students and Trainees: Scholarships and grants can help cover the cost of medical education, allowing you to focus on your studies and clinical placements in rural settings.

  • Junior Doctors: Funding opportunities can support further training and specialisations, particularly in areas of high need such as general practice, emergency medicine, and mental health.

  • Experienced Practitioners: Grants can facilitate research projects, professional development, and community health initiatives, helping you contribute to advancing rural healthcare.
